Tools required:

Buy this cartridge rather than refill it.

In order to successfully refill these cartridges, you will need two sets, an 'A' and a 'B' cartridge. For black and each of the colors, you will have two refill cartridges. When the 'A' cartridge runs out, replace it with the 'B' cartridge, and vice versa.

Refill instructions:

  1. Look at the end of the cartridge and locate the plastic ball that is plugging the fill hole.
  2. Stand the cartridge on end, so that the ball end is facing up.
  3. Using the push tool, push the ball into the body of the cartridge.
  4. Put the needle on the syringe and fill the syringe with the proper color ink.

  5. Gently insert the needle into the fill hole and SLOWLY fill the carrtidge.
  6. Seal the fill hole with one of the large plugs provided. Note that on your second refill, simply pull the plug out with pliers.
  7. When using refilled cartridge 'A', you will get a popup box:

  8. Remove cartridge 'A' and replace it with cartridge 'B'. Then you will get the message:

  9. Click 'NO' and you will get:

  10. Click 'OK' and you are ready to print.

If the printer still does not print, then you probably need to switch off the ink level monitor. How you do this depends on the printer:

HP OfficeJet Pro 8100

  1. On the printer control panel, press and hold the 'WIRELESS' and "RESUME" buttons.
  2. The ink supply icons will blink four times.
  3. To turn usage information back on, press and hold the two buttons again.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

  1. On the printer control panel, touch right arrow, and then touch 'SETUP'.
  2. Select "PREFERENCES', and then select 'CARTRIDGE CHIP INFORMATION'.
  3. Touch 'OK' to turn off usage information collection.

Battery removal method

  1. Refer to the printer manual.
  2. Remove the side panel.
  3. Remove the battery for about 1 minute.
  4. Re-insert the battery.
  5. Re-attach the side panel.
