Cleaning Solution Instructions

Chip Resetter

Tools required:

Buy this cartridge rather than refill it.
  1. Stand the cartridge on paper towels and peel off the top label. You can discard the label, as you will not need it.
  2. There is a small hole in the center of the cartridge (too small for the needle to fit). Enlarge the hole with the drill.
  3. Fill the syringe with 15 ml of black ink and insert the needle into the filling hole.
  4. Very slowly inject the ink into the chamber.
  5. Do NOT seal the hole. This will act as a vent for the cartridge.
  6. Install the cartridge and run several print cleaning cycles per the printer instructions.

Note: On the CL-241 and PG-240 series cartridges, there is an electronic counter embedded in a small computer chip/board. This counter starts at a high number and decreases for every character printed. Eventually, the counter reaches zero. At this point, an error message is generated by the printer. If you click "OK" to the error message, the printer will continue to print.

If you have trouble getting your printer to print because it thinks the cartridges are empty. Look on your printer for an orange blinking light. This is your reset button, usually the paper feed button also. Hold this button in for 5 seconds.

  • Immediately install the refilled cartridge in the printer.
  • More than one cleaning or printing cycle may be required for some cartridges.
